Tennessee Titans Fall to 0-3 After Game-Sealing Interception

NEW JERSEY – The Tennessee Titans found themselves in a familiar situation, but this time they had the ball at the end of the game. Just like the last game, they weren’t able to close the game out and fell 12-7 to the New York Giants..

 

Overview

On the opening kickoff, Chimere Dike fumbled and gave New York a short field. The Giants would ride that momentum to a nine-point first-half lead (all field goals) while their defense pitched a shutout.

New York would start the second half with another scoring drive, pushing its lead to 12. It would be the Giants’ last scoring drive of the day.

The second half was much cleaner for the Titans. Cam Ward was on time with most of his passes in the half and started generating consistent movement offensively. On the Titans’ lone scoring drive of the day, he went 8-for-8 for 54 yards and a touchdown to Wan’Dale Robinson..

Tennessee would get a chance to win the game after a stop by the defense. Ward drove the team downfield to the six-yard-line but on the final play, Ward threw an interception.

Ward finished the game 23-of-36 (63.8%) for 181 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

 

Positives

• Defensive Pressure: Tennessee constently pressured Jameis Winston for most of the day.
• No Pay Dirt: The Titans held the Giants out of the end zone for the entire game.
• More Yards: Tennessee outgained New York 262-238 on the day.

 

Negatives

• Late-Game Blunder: Ward’s first interception in 209 attempts came on the final play of the game.
• Lost the Turnover Battle: Tennessee had two turnovers on the day compared to zero for the Giants.
• Sleepy Offense: Tennessee’s offense didn’t gain any momentum until the second half of the game.

Tennessee will travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens next week in search of its first win of the season.
