NFL Power Rankings Week 3 – A Revamped Description

It’s early enough to still have a “wait and see” attitude for every NFL fan base. It’s also (somehow) deep enough into the season where certain fan bases are starting to panic. Whether your team has been terrible or awesome, there should be a top performer or two in every city.

Maybe it’s a certain grouping or a whole offensive or defensive unit that’s propelling or hindering these team in the early going. In any event things are starting to turn upside down as usual.

 

1.) Buffalo Bills (2-0)
We could talk about the Bill’s offense that’s throttling everyone but how about their timely defense? Gregory Rousseau currently leads the NFL with 4.0 sacks and three forced fumbles to go along with nine overall quarterback hits.

 

2.) Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
In two games (one start), Drew Lock has 422 passing yards with a 72.9 completion percentage. He has thrown four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

 

3.) San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
The ageless Mike Evans has been a terrific addition to the 49ers. He leads the team with nine catches for 103 yards and one touchdown so far this season.

 

4.) Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
The Eagles haven’t been the running team we’ve been used to seeing in recent years. Right now, they’re in the middle of the pack in rushing yards and only have recorded one rushing touchdown as a team.

 

5.) Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)
The Bengals’ defense has giving up an average of 16.5 points per game and they have forced four turnovers. They’re allowing an average of 74.5 rushing yards per game.

 

6.) Kansas City Chiefs  (2-0)
Kenneth Walker III is averaging 6.2 yards a carry and 145.0 rushing yards per game. He currently leads the NFL in total rushing yards by a margin of 78 yards.

 

7.) Los Angeles Rams (1-1)
Davante Adams now has 61 catches for 920 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 12 career games in Monday Night Football games.

 

8.) Las Vegas Raiders (2-0)
Kirk Cousins is averaging three touchdown passes a game. The last time a Raiders quarterback had three touchdowns in a single game was Jarrett Stidham in January, 2023.

 

9.) Minnesota Vikings (2-0)
Brian Flores has to be the best defensive coach in the NFL. When your gameplan causes a team to score 56 less points than they did the previous week, you should be acknowledged somehow.

 

10.) Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
The offense played decent but wasn’t as good as Week 1. The defense was not sharp at all. Neither side was good in the fourth quarter as Baltimore got outscored 15-0 in the final quarter.

 

11.) Chicago Bears (1-1)
Caleb Willams’ injury isn’t as bad as originally feared but it’s still significant. Williams is week-to-week with what’s being called a hamstring strain. It was originally feared he had tore his hamstring according to the team.

 

12.) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)
Parker Washington has 12 catches for 112 yards and one receiving touchdown this season. The fourth-year wide receiver is averaging 15.1 yards per catch.

 

13.) Denver Broncos (1-1)
Denver made sure to put forth a much better defensive performance in Week 2, holding Jacksonville to 95 yards on the ground. Last year’s Broncos team allowed an average of 91.0 rushing yards per game.

 

14.) Detroit Lions (1-1)
Detroit has given up 71 points in two games and it’s still not the most points allowed this season. They rank 31st in both total points allowed and total yards allowed from scrimmage.

 

15.) Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
Dak Prescott is tied for the league lead with six touchdown passes. He’s averaging 9.5 yards per completion and he’s only thrown one interception so far this season.

 

16. New England Patriots (1-1)
The Patriots have given up a league low 16 points in two games this season. If they didn’t have so many turnovers (five), they might be undefeated.

 

17. New Orleans Saints (1-1)
Tyler Shough leads the league with 662 passing yards. He has four touchdown passes and he’s averaging 10.7 yards per completion.

 

18.) New York Giants (1-1)
Going forward, the Giants will have to wonder if Jaxon Dart is fearless or wreckless. They can’t afford to keep playing games without him under center.

 

19.) Carolina Panthers (1-1)
The Panthers’ offense is top four in both total points scored and total yards from scrimmage. As great as their defense played against the Atlanta Falcons, they still rank in the bottom five in points allowed and yards allowed.

 

20.) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)
Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been an elite quarterback for a few years now. The question is starting to arise about whether he is still a viable starting quarterback in the NFL.

 

21.) Arizona Cardinals (1-1)
I’m not sure what happened to Marvin Harrison Jr. from the time he left Ohio State University until now, but it hasn’t been good. Through two games, Harrison has one lone catch for 33 yards. He also has one drop to combat his catch total.

 

22.) New York Jets (1-1)
Some people will point the finger at head coach Aaron Glenn as the reason why the Jets aren’t 2-0. I’d blame whoever is responsible for them only scoring three points combined in the 4th quarter and overtime.

 

23.) Green Bay Packers (1-1)
Despite the win, the Packers haven’t looked that impressive this season. They’ve already been outscored by a total of 56-42, they have the lowest amount of rushing yards through two games (129) and they’ve turned the ball over three times while only recording one turnover on defense.

 

24.) Cleveland Browns (1-1)
Did Deshaun Watson have a rare good game on Sunday? The much maligned quarterback threw for 238 yards, and he had multiple touchdown passes in a game for the first time since September 2024.

 

25.) Houston Texans (0-2)
Houston is allowing an average of 23 points per game in this early part of this season. They allowed 20 or more points in only six games last season.

 

26.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2)
The Buccaneers have given the ball away five times this season and they’ve only forced one turnover on the season. Baker Mayfield has accounted for four of those turnovers.

 

27.) Los Angeles Chargers (0-2)
The Chargers are currently ranked 29th in total points and 22nd in total yards from scrimmage. Justin Herbert has thrown two touchdown passes and three interceptions so far this season.

 

28.) Indianapolis Colts (0-2)
Jonathan Taylor is averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He’s averaging 95.0 rushing yards per game and he has four rushing touchdowns.

 

29.)  Washington Commanders (0-2)
Jayden Daniels has yet again sustained an injury that could derail his season. Washington hasn’t had any luck with quarterbacks they take early in the draft, especially the dual threat types.

 

30.) Tennessee Titans (0-2)
The Titans are ranked 30th in passing yards with 296 on the season. First-round pick Carnell Tate leads the team with 11 targets and seven catchers, but he only has 65 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

 

31.) Atlanta Falcons (0-2)
Cooper Rush’s 42.5 passed rating through two games is the sixth lowest in franchise history amongst quarterbacks with at least one start. Fortunately for the Falcons, Michael Penix Jr. has been slated to start on Thursday night against the Packers.

 

32.) Miami Dolphins (0-2)
The number 13 is synonymous with greatness when it comes to the Dolphins. At this moment, the number 13 represents the amount of points they’ve scored in each of their first two games. It’s also the amount of first downs they’ve accumulated in each of the first two games. Neither of those are great stats.
