The preseason has ended for the 2025-26 Tennessee Titans and now the toughest part of the year starts: roster cuts. There have been a few standouts that have made it rough for the staff and some disappointing performances as well. Ultimately there can only be 53 men chosen to make the initial roster and here are my predictions based on what has been put on the field thus far.
Quarterback (3) – Cameron Ward, Trevor Siemian, Brandon Allen
The quarterback situation is pretty simple here for Tennessee. Ward is their starter, and Siemian has been the better of the two backups so far.
Halfback (4) – Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Kalel Mullings, Julius Chestnut
Halfback is intriguing due to Spears’ injury. Pollard will be the starter but while Spears is nursing his ankle the team will need two players that can shoulder the reserve role. Mullings has run hard all preseason and impressed. Chestnut is a veteran who offers special teams depth. I think they keep all four players.
Wide Receiver (7) – Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Elic Ayomanor, Van Jefferson, Chimere Dike, Bryce Oliver, James Proche II
This is a pretty clear-cut position for the Titans. Ayomanor has shown his value as a player earning the trust of the coaching staff, and Proche II offers special teams versatility. Bryce Oliver has also shown a lot of growth from year one and will make the team outright.
Tight End (4) – Gunnar Helm, Chig Okonkwo, Josh Whyle, Thomas Odukoya*
Another no brainer for the Titans here. Gunnar Helm has separated himself as the best tight end on the team so far, and Odukoya has improved as well. With Odukoya being an international player he won’t count against the 53 man roster, giving Tennessee an extra spot.
Offensive Line (10) – Dan Moore Jr., Peter Skoronski, Lloyd Cushenberry, Kevin Zietler, JC Latham, Jackson Slater, Blake Hance, Corey Levin, Jaelyn Duncan, Olisaemeka Udoh
The starting five up front are locked in and behind them is where the toughest decision has to be made for Tennessee. Jackson Slater has shown flashes of being a future starter in the league. Hance, Udoh, Levin and Duncan are all solid backups that could come in handy as the season progresses. I think they keep ten, making this the biggest group on the roster.
Defensive Line (5) – Sebastian Joseph-Day, Jeffrey Simmons, T’Vondre Sweat, James Lynch, Joe Gaziano
The front for Tennessee has been a strength this preseason and could be one of the best groups top to bottom. Joseph-Day, Simmons, and Sweat are locks to make the roster. That leaves two other spots that should be taken by James Lynch and Joe Gaziano, who have been steady in the preseason.
Linebacker (9) – Dre’Mont Jones, Arden Key, Jihad Ward, Oluwafemi Oladejo, Jaylen Harrell, Cody Barton, Cedric Gray, James Williams Sr., Brian Asamoah II
Linebacker is pretty cut and dry outside of the inside linebacker spot next to Cody Barton. Newcomers Dre’Mont Jones and Jihad Ward have both been solid contributors during camp and preseason play, which has cemented their spots. Cedric Gray has had two great showings during the preseason, presumably making him the starter week one. James Williams Sr. has also been great and will have a role on the team, especially in special teams work. Brian Asamoah II is a new signing but has shown the ability to provide quality depth and is a special teams ace.
Cornerback (5) – L’Jarius Sneed, Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Roger McCreary, Darrell Baker Jr., Marcus Harris
Outside of the starting trio, Tennessee hasn’t had much to have to make tough decisions on in the cornerback room. Darrell Baker Jr. and Marcus Harris have been the most solid reserve players and should make the roster.
Safety (4) – Amani Hooker, Xavier Woods, Kevin Winston Jr., Quandre Diggs
This has been the group with the least amount of variation during the offseason. Hooker and Woods are the starters, Winston Jr. and Diggs are both quality depth assets and all four will make the roster for week one.
Special Teams (3) – Morgan Cox, Johnny Hekker, Joey Slye
Easy one here…Cox, Slye, and Hekker are all cemented players who are making the roster no matter what.
Practice Squad (10) – Kendell Brooks (Safety), Xavier Restrepo(Wide Receiver), David Martin-Robinson(Tight End), John Ojukwu (Tackle), Andrew Rupcich (Guard), Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson (Tackle), Carlos Watkins (Defensive Lineman), Ali Gaye (Edge), Julius Wood (Safety), Jha’Quan Jackson (Wide Receiver)
