Braves Pull Off The Victory In Washington

Washington, D.C. – The Atlanta Braves started off the first of their four-game series with a win over the Washington Nationals 5-4.

The Braves hit three home runs in tonight’s game (Dansby Swanson, Michael Harris II and Matt Olson). Atlanta leads MLB with 26 home runs in July (142 this season).

Braves starting pitcher Kyle Wright pitched seven innings and earned his 11th win of the season allowing two runs on seven hits and struck out four batters.  

In the bottom of the 5th, center fielder Michael Harris II threw out Luis Garcia from 94 feet at home plate.

In the top of the ninth, Austin Riley singled to center field which advanced his hitting streak to 10 games.

After a home run from National’s third baseman Maikel Franco in the bottom of the 9th, Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen closed out the game by striking out Jordan Bell.

The Braves will continue their four game stretch on Friday as RHP Ian Anderson will face LHP Patrick Corbin.
