2022 NFL Mock Draft – Make It Count

Another year, another draft. The names may change but the goal remains the same for NFL teams drafting players. That is to find starters, contributors and hidden gems throughout the draft. What has changed most is the evolution it the big men in the trenches. Not only are they still big in size, but their athleticism is scary and off the charts today. With that said, here is a look at the four round 2022 NFL Mock Draft:

 

Round 1

1. Jacksonville Jaguars – Evan Neal, Offensive Tackle, Alabama

Neal is a huge man with nimble feet and will protect franchise quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.

2. Detroit Lions –  Aidan Hutchinson, Defensive End, Michigan

Building in the trenches is always a smart move and Hutchinson has a relentless motor with solid technique to get to the quarterback.

3. Houston Texans – Kayvon Thibodeaux, Defensive End, Oregon

The Texans have many needs but won’t pass up a chance at the best defensive prospect in the draft with Thibodeaux’s athleticism and raw, untapped talent.

4. New York Jets – Ikem Ekwonu, Offensive Tackle, North Carolina State

The Jets continue to build their line with the ultra athletic Ekwonu, who is equally adept at both pass and run blocking.

5. New York Giants – Kyle Hamilton, Safety, Notre Dame

The Giants need secondary help and get a good one with Hamilton, who can cover and come up and get support the run.

6. Carolina Panthers – Kenny Pickett, Quarterback, Pittsburgh

The Sam Darnold experiment didn’t work and they need a signal caller for the future. Pickett has solid mechanics and simply makes plays.

7. New York Giants – Ahmad Gardner, Cornerback, Cincinnati

The Giants continue to fortify their secondary with a lockdown corner. Gardner is quick, with the size to handle big receivers.

8. Atlanta Falcons – Matt Corral, Quarterback, Ole Miss

With Matt Ryan being traded in the offseason, time to get his replacement. Corral has a terrific arm and can run out of trouble, too.

9. Seattle Seahawks – Malik Willis, Quarterback, Liberty

The rebuild begins after longtime franchise quarterback Russell Wilson was traded. Willis is a clone of Wilson, with his ability to throw the deep ball and make plays with his legs.

10. New York Jets – David Stingley Jr., Cornerback, LSU

The Jets make another smart pick with cornerback Stingley Jr., who is a ball hawk and not afraid to get physical.

11. Washington Commanders – Charles Cross, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi State

The Commanders need to shore up their line and get a bruiser in Cross, who has a nasty disposition and appetite for pancakes.

12. Minnesota Vikings – Travon Walker, Defensive End, Georgia

The Vikings need to improve their defense and Walker is a good start. His strength and hands will help him apply pressure on the quarterback.

13. Houston Texans – Zion Johnson, Offensive Guard, Boston College

After picking a defensive lineman, they get a top notch offensive interior lineman in Johnson, who has good technique and attacks defenders.

14. Baltimore Ravens – Jermaine Johnson II, Defensive End, Florida State

The Ravens are shoring up the defense with a dynamic pass rusher in Johnson II, who is athletic with great bend off the edge.

15. Philadelphia Eagles – Garrett Wilson, Wide Receiver, Ohio State

The Eagles get Jalen Hurts another weapon in Wilson, who has great hands and good route running skills.

16. Philadelphia Eagles – Kyle Gordon, Cornerback, Washington

The Eagles need secondary help and Gordon will have an immediate impact. He has good anticipation and a high football IQ.

17. Los Angeles Chargers – Jordan Davis, Defensive Tackle, Georgia

The defense needs beef up front and they get a massive lineman in Davis, who defies logic with his speed and athleticism.

18. New Orleans Saints – Desmond Ridder, Quarterback, Cincinnati

Another team in need of a reset at quarterback. Ridder is a leader who is tough and improving as a passer.

19. Philadelphia Eagles – Tyler Linderbaum, Offensive Center, Iowa

The Eagles need to revamp their offense after many injuries and aging players. Linderbaum is the quarterback of the line, who will get everyone in their proper place.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers – Sam Howell, Quarterback, UNC

With Ben Roethlisberger retiring, the next leader is needed. Howell is a rugged, let it fly quarterback who will lead by example.

21. New England Patriots – Drake London, Wide Receiver, USC

The Patriots needs weapons on the outside for Mac Jones. London is a big target with a vast catch radius and sure hands.

22. Green Bay Packers – Treylon Burks, Wide Receiver, Arkansas

Davante Adams is gone, so drafting a receiver is a priority. Burks is a bigger receiver with sneaky speed who high points the ball very well.

23. Arizona Cardinals – Kenyon Green, Offensive Guard, Texas A&M

The Cardinals must shore up the line to better protect franchise quarterback Kyler Murray. Green uses brute strength to keep defenders off balance.

24. Dallas Cowboys – Trevon Penning, Offensive Tackle, Northern Iowa

Time for the Cowboys to replenish a depleting offensive line. Perming has the talent to contribute right away.

25. Buffalo Bills – Andrew Booth, Cornerback, Clemson

Buffalo is loading up on defense to make a Super Bowl run. Booth fills a need at corner with solid cover skills.

26. Tennessee Titans – Devin Lloyd, Outside Linebacker, Utah

The Titans defense needs help up front. Lloyd is a speedy, tackling machine who can pressure the quarterback and drop in coverage.

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Chris Olave, Wide Receiver, Ohio State

With Tom Brady back, why not give him some weapons to throw to? Olave had very good speed, sure hands and can stretch the field.

28. Green Bay Packers – Devonte Wyatt, Defensive Tackle, Georgia

The Packers add some beef on the defensive line with Wyatt. He’s a space eater and a run stopper.

29. Kansas City Chiefs – Jameson Williams, Wide Receiver, Alabama

The Chiefs add a downfield threat in Williams. He can take a short slant to the house, too.

30. Kansas City Chiefs – George Karlaftis, Defensive End, Purdue

Now they address their defense with a relentless pass rusher in Karlaftis. He just makes plays.

31. Cincinnati Bengals – Bernhard Raimann, Offensive Tackle, Central Michigan

It’s all about protecting quarterback Joe Burrow. Raimann will help solidly the offensive line and add much needed depth.

32. Detroit Lions – Trent McDuffie, Cornerback, Washington

More defensive help is on the way with McDuffie, who plays bigger than his size suggest and likes to get physical.
