NFL Power Ranking Week 3 – The Imminent Let Down

Ab Stanley

I need everybody reading this right now to remember one thing: your team has only played two games. Some might be winless and looking like stir-fried garbage, while other teams look like the best thing you ever saw.

Most teams have this Jekyll and Hyde look going into week three. It’s down in the doldrums one minute, followed by cheers and beers the next.

Week three could determine a few things, but there’s a huge chunk of the season left. Nobody should be pressing the panic button at this point of the season.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)
Tom Brady has thrown nine touchdowns throughout two games. Imagine being the oldest player in the league and also being on pace to throw over 60 touchdowns.

2. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)
The Rams have outscored their opponents by a total of 61-38 this season. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 599 yards and five touchdowns.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (1-1)
The Chiefs have scored 68 points this season. The defense has given up 65 points and 938 yards of offense in two games.

4. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
The 49ers are top ten in both points scored and points allowed. They’re looking more like the team that made the Super Bowl after the 2019 season.

5. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)
The Cardinals are undefeated, ranking second in points scored and total yards. They seem to be a legit contender that nobody is talking about.

6. Seattle Seahawks (1-1)
Seattle had it cooking early in their game versus the Titans, but could only muster six points after halftime. They get a hungry Viking team next week, followed by a division showdown against San Francisco.

7. Los Angeles Chargers (1-1)
Justin Herbert threw for over 300 yards yet again. He had two costly interceptions that hurt his team’s chances at winning the game.

8. Las Vegas Raiders (2-0)
The Raiders are undefeated early in a season where they were picked to finish no better than third in their division.

9. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
The Ravens win over the Chiefs could be considered a statement win except this isn’t January.

10. Buffalo Bills (1-1)
The Bills flexed their muscle and got all the way right versus the Dolphins. Josh Allen has a career 6-1 record versus Miami.

11. Green Bay Packers (1-1)
Aaron Jones had four touchdowns, as the Packers ultimately beat the the Lions after a shaky first half. All the Aaron Rodgers memes can halt for one week.

12. Cleveland Browns (1-1)
Cleveland has scored a total of 60 points in two games and they’ve allowed 54 points. They will be without Jarvis Landry for a few weeks after he sprained his MCL.

13. Carolina Panthers  (2-0)
The Panthers have the number one ranked defense, allowing a total of 21 points and 380 yards of offense so far this season.

14. New England Patriots (1-1)
Mac Jones led the Patriots to their first win of the season by playing a steady, turnover free game. His defense also came to play.

15. Denver Broncos (2-0)
Denver is getting it done on both sides of the ball. Teddy Bridgewater is having a great season so far, leading the Broncos to a top five offense.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)
The Steelers were a team left for dead before the start of the season. They’re right in the middle of the race in their division and conference.

17. Tennessee Titans (1-1)
The Titans made a spectacular comeback by scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Derrick Henry got back to his bruising ways, rushing for 182 yards and three touchdowns.

18. Miami Dolphins (1-1)
The Dolphins really wet the bed versus the Bills on Sunday. Miami hasn’t been shut out since early in the 2019 season.

19. Washington Football Team (1-1)
Taylor Heinicke threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns after replacing the injured Ryan Fitzpatrick. Washington evens up their record and they host a tough Bills team this weekend.

20. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
Dallas got a great effort from their defense and their rushing attack provided the scoring.

21. New Orleans Saints (1-1)
Jameis Winston’s relapse to his interception throwing days in Tampa Bay was tough to watch. He faces Bill Belichick and the Patriots this weekend, which will be a good test to see where Winston is really at.

22. Chicago Bears (1-1)
If the Justin Fields era starts this week, hopefully he can bring a spark to the Bears’ offense. Chicago is near the bottom of the league in both points scored and total yards.

23. Houston Texans (1-1)
The Texans were rolling again for a second week in a row before Tyrod Taylor left the game win an injury.

24. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)
The Eagles struggled to score after eclipsing the 30 point mark in week one. They get Dallas this week, which means they have to get back to that week one kind of scoring performance.

25. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
The Bengals couldn’t pull out a close victory over Chicago. Joe burrow has thrown four touchdowns and already has three interceptions on the season.

26. Indianapolis Colts (0-2)
The Colts nearly pulled out an improbable win over the Rams on Sunday. Carson Wentz’s availability is up in the air with injuries to both ankles.

27. Minnesota Vikings  (0-2)
The Vikings are probably the best winless team in the league. That’s also the same as saying you had the best dish at a crappy restaurant – it’s not very convincing.

28. New York Giants (0-2)
Daniel Jones had a really good game against Washington. He threw for 249 yards and a touchdown and most importantly had zero turnovers.

29. Atlanta Falcons (0-2)
The Falcons put up a good fight versus the defending champion Buccaneers. They couldn’t overcome three Matt Ryan interceptions, two of which came in the fourth quarter.

30. Detroit Lions (0-2)
Detroit had a good thing going for a game and a half and then all of a sudden the 2020 version of the Lions showed up.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2)
Trevor Lawrence had his worst throwing performance…probably of his life. He only threw for 118 yards, but he did manage to throw two more interceptions.

32. New York Jets (0-2)
The Jets had a hard time scoring two field goals on Sunday for a total of six points. They had a slightly easier time turning the ball over four times.
