2020 College Football Top 10 – Back To Business

The college football playoff picture is becoming more clear as we approach the end of the regular season. It doesn’t mean things can’t get chaotic based on different scenarios. Those non Power 5 schools in the hunt want chaos. Here are the current top 10 rankings:

 

1) Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0) defeated Kentucky Wildcats 63-3

Quarterback Mac Jones looked a little off in a half of work, going 16-24 for 230 yards with two touchdowns. Running backs Jase McClellan (99 rushing yards/1 touchdown) and Najee Harris (83 rushing yards/two touchdowns) did the heavy lifting. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith had 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The defense held the Wildcats’ offense to under 200 total yards.

2) Notre Dame (8-0) Idle

3) Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0) defeated #11 Indiana Hoosiers 42-35

Quarterback Justin Fields struggled and looked mortal, going 18-30 for 300 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He added 78 rushing yards and a touchdown. Running back Master Teague III was a workhorse, rushing for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Garrett Wilson (169 receiving yards/two touchdowns) and Chris Olave (101 receiving yards) stretched the field all game. The defense shut down the Hoosiers’ rushing attack and struggled against the pass but made the stops late to hold on.

4) Cincinnati Bearcats (8-0) defeated Central Florida Knights 36-33

Quarterback Desmond Ridder was excellent, going 21-32 for 338 yards and two touchdowns. He added two rushing touchdowns. Running back Gerrid Doaks had 97 rushing yards. Tight end Josh Whyle had 81 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense held strong at the end to preserve the victory.

5) Brigham Young Cougars (9-0) defeated North Alabama Lions 66-14

Quarterback Zach Wilson was efficient in a half of work, going 10-16 for 212 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Tyler Allgeier ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Dax Milne had 101 receiving yards. The defense had no trouble containing the Lions’ offense and forced three turnovers.

6) Clemson Tigers (7-1) Postponed (Florida State Seminoles)

Next game- vs. Pittsburgh Panthers

 

7) Texas A&M Aggies (5-1) Postponed (Ole Miss Rebels)

Next game- vs. LSU Tigers

 

8) Florida Gators (6-1) defeated Vanderbilt Commodores 38-17

Quarterback Kyle Trask was awesome, going 26-35 for 383 yards with three touchdowns. Wide receivers Kadarius Toney (107 receiving yards/one touchdown) and Justin Shorter (94 receiving yards) were hard to cover. The defense did its job with relative ease after a slow start.

9) Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (8-0) defeated Appalachian State Mountaineers 34-23

Quarterback Grayson McCall was pedestrian, going 12-21 for 200 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 69 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Isaiah Likely had 118 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense made enough plays down the stretch to get the win and forced three turnovers.

Next game- at Texas State Bobcats

 

10)  Northwestern Wildcats (5-0) defeated #14 Wisconsin Badgers 17-7

Quarterback Peyton Ramsey was just good enough, going 23-44 for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman had 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense bent but didn’t break and forced five turnovers.
