Going Against The Grain- Fantasy Football’s Aww’s And Naw’s For Week 13

Aww Quarterbacks

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (home vs Carolina Panthers) – Winston finally had a good game without an interception last week and should repeat his performance against a banged-up Panthers defense.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (away vs. Atlanta Falcons) – I’m excited to see Jackson run on an indoor surface, and it’s a great matchup since the Falcons allow the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

 

Naw Quarterbacks

Tom Brady, New England Patriots (home vs. Minnesota Vikings) – The Vikings defense actually play well against top quarterbacks this season. You still want to start Brady no matter what but I just don’t see huge fantasy numbers from him this weekend.

 

Aww Running Backs

Chris Carson, Seattle Seahawks (home vs. San Francisco 49ers) – Carson will continue getting the workload and will have a field day against the Reuben Foster-less 49ers.

Josh Adams, Philadelphia Eagles (home vs. Washington Redskins) – Eagles running back coach Duce Staley recently said that they’ll continue to do a time share at running back and whoever is hot, will stay in the game. I don’t believe it. Adams did enough last week to cement himself as the featured early down back and will have another great game against the Redskins.

Kenyon Drake, Miami Dolphins (home vs. Buffalo Bills) – Drake has a shoulder injury but should be good to play against the Bills. He’s worth starting as a flex due to his catching ability.

 

Naw Running Backs

Carlos Hyde, Jacksonville Jaguars (home vs. Indianapolis Colts) – Hyde will get an expanded role with Leonard Fournette suspended for this game against the Colts but I don’t expect him to have a quality stat line without finding the end zone. I personally like T.J. Yeldon this week instead.

Adrian Peterson, Washington Redskins (away vs. Philadelphia Eagles) – Outside of his two touchdowns in Week 11, Peterson has been struggling running the football. Fellow running back Chris Thompson maybe returning this week, which will limit Peterson touches if they fall behind.

 

Aww Wide Receivers

Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans (home vs. New York Jets) – He’s finally starting to look like the breakout receiver I hoped he could become.  This week, he’s facing a Jets team that has allowed seven touchdowns to receivers in the past seven games.  Continue to start Davis at a WR2.

D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers (away vs. Tampa Bay Bucs) – Moore is becoming the new real top wide receiver for Carolina, especially with Devin Funchess hurting.  Over the past two weeks, he’s had 17 targets and caught 15 of them.

 

Naw Wide Receivers

Alshon Jeffrey, Philadelphia Eagles (home vs. Washington Redskins) – Since the Eagles acquired Golden Tate from the Lions, Jeffrey has suffered. In the past three games, Jeffrey has just 120 yards receiving on 11 catches and zero touchdowns. Coach Peterson said that they need to get Jeffrey more involved but I’ll continue to keep him on my bench till I see that happen.

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears (away vs. New York Giants) – After a great game against the Lions in Week 10, Robinson has disappeared.  Over the past two games, he’s had just five catches and 76 yards. This week, Robinson is on the road against the Giants and will most likely be guarded by Janoris Jenkins, which will be difficult.

 

Aww Tight Ends

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (away vs. Houston Texans) – The Texans cannot cover the tight end position as Tennessee Titans’ tight end Jonnu Smith ate them up with 63 yards and a touchdown last week. Njoku is building a nice rapport with rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield.

 

Naw Tight Ends

Evan Engram, New York Giants (home vs. Chicago Bears) – Engram is still battling a hamstring injury that he suffered in pre-game warmups last week. Even if he plays, he’ll be limited.

 

Aww Team Defense

Green Bay Packers (home vs. Arizona Cardinals) – Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen has thrown at least one interception in his past five games. It will be cold and possibly snowing in Green Bay, so expect multiple turnovers.

 

Naw Team Defense

Baltimore Ravens (away vs. Atlanta Falcons) – The Falcons are pretty good offensively and careful with the ball at home.
