The Minnesota Vikings have declined to pick up the $18 million option on running back  Adrian Peterson and he is now a free agent. The former league MVP  has spent his entire ten year career with the Vikings and ranks #16 all-time in rushing with 11,747 yards on the ground and tenth all-time with 97 touchdowns.

The seven-time pro bowler has been mired in injuries as of late only playing 19 games combined the past three seasons. Peterson name has been linked to the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers as potential suitors although a return to Minnesota at a reduced rate might be a possibility. Peterson will be 32 by the time training camp starts.
